Each slate comes from a building in the French Quarter and most were on homes before the Great Depression.
When the daughter of a deceased New Orleans architecture collector contacted artist Taylor Anne, her idea was for something special to be created on a slate in her father's memory. After seeing the slate, Taylor Anne fell in love with their potential and purchased his entire collection.
Each slate is considered an original work of art and a piece of New Orleans history. Not one slate is the same and the natural chipping, nail holes, and holes from hammering add a unique touch to each piece.
